In her comprehensive, strategic IP consultancy for hidden champions and innovative medium-sized enterprises, Katrin Winkelmann combines legal and technical expertises with an entrepreneurial perspective on intellectual property. This includes freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, patent portfolio and patent mapping analyses, transaction consulting and IP due diligence, as well as patent valuation.

Katrin Winkelmann has many years’ experience in creating international patent portfolios. Another core area is attacking and defending patents, in opposition, appeal and revocation proceedings. Her work to safeguard competitive advantages also includes legal action against rights infringements and the enforcement of claims. She also advises on innovation programmes and employee incentive arrangements regarding employee inventions.

In 2019, “Lawyer Monthly” conferred Katrin Winkelmann the “Women in Law Award” and she has been nominated as "Patent Attorney of the Year" for the "Women in Business Law Award 2021". According to Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, she ranks as one of Germany’s best lawyers in 2022 in the field of Intellectual Property Law. IAM Strategy 300 recognises Katrin Winkelmann as one of the “World’s Leading IP Strategists”: “Coming from a management consulting background, Katrin Winkelmann puts the emphasis on business when advising on complex patent portfolio, enforcement and transactional matters. Her strategies are well-calibrated and grant her entrepreneurial clients an immediate edge" (2021).
