Dr. Cheng Yang has a diverse and extensive experience in drafting, prosecuting and enforcing German and European patent applications, as well as in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office. The focus of her activities are mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science and information technology, including AI and computer implemented inventions. 

Dr. Cheng Yang speaks German, English and Chinese. She has been leveraging her multilingual skills to consult with clients from China, Japan, South Korea, United States and Germany, helping them to secure patent rights internationally.

CV

Doctorate at the University of Siegen in mechanics and control engineering, with a dissertation on innovative transducers for structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing in aeronautics. Prior academic background includes a Master’s degree in Mechatronics and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. European patent law training at law firm Meissner Bolte from 2018 to 2022 in Munich. Qualified as a European Patent Attorney since 2022. Continued practice as an associate at a British law firm in 2023 before joining Eisenführ Speiser in 2024. 

German civil law learning from 2023 to 2025 at the Distance Learning University of Hagen, internship at the 7th Civil Chamber for patent infringement matters of the Regional Court I of Munich. Currently at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court to qualify as a German Patent Attorney.
